Woman found dead in budget hotel room in Sandakan

KOTA KINABALU: A woman in her 20s was found dead in a room on the first floor of a budget hotel in a commercial area in Jalan Dua, Sandakan.

A female caretaker said the victim checked into the room at 5am Sunday.

Later in the morning, she noticed the room door was left ajar.

Upon checking, she found the woman's lifeless body on the bed.

She immediately alerted police.

No documents were found on the body and initial investigations showed no signs of injuries on the victim.

However, police have not ruled out the possibility that the victim might have been suffocated.

The body was sent to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for post-mortem, said Sandakan police chief Asst Comm Mohd Azhar Hamin, who visited the crime scene.
