IGP: Abused schoolboy's death classified as murder


KOTA TINGGI: Police have reclassified the case of Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Ghadaffi's death as murder.

In a tweet, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic) offered his condolences to the victim's family.

"The case has been reclassified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"Police are waiting for the full medical report and will complete the investigation as soon as possible," he tweeted.

Police had previously classified the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

A 29-year-old suspect who served 30 months in jail had been arrested by police to help in investigations.

The suspect had been working for about a year as an assistant warden at the privately-run religious school where the boy was a student.
