Court halves 80-year sentence on police officer for rape and sodomy

KUALA LUMPUR: The Court of Appeal has halved the 80-year jail sentence on a police officer for raping and sodomising a 13-year-old girl.

Justice Mohd Zawawi Salleh, who chaired a three-man panel, made the order on grounds that the conviction is safe and there are no reasons for the court to disturb it, except on the term.
