Former cop falls to his death from seventh floor of KL hotel

KUALA LUMPUR: A former policeman, who was believed to be high on drugs, fell to his death from the seventh floor of a hotel here.  

The 32-year-old man was believed to be high on methamphetamine before he allegedly leapt to his death from his room at the hotel in Lorong Kapar, off Jalan Syed Putra, here.  

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Sharul Osman Mansor said the father-of-one was found sprawled in a pool of blood in the wee hours of Friday by a hotel employee.  

“We were alerted to the incident at 5.15am. Checks by the police found that he had been staying there since Feb 19.  

“The room was registered under the name of the man's girlfriend. There was also a packet believed to contain methamphetamine in the room,” he said.  

A background check at Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department found that the man was sacked on June 24 last year for involvement in a drug-related offence.  

ACP Sharul said the man's last posting was as a support constable (polis sokongan) at the logistics department.   

“He had been with the Bukit Sentosa police training centre transport section as a driver since 2012 until he was sacked," he said.  

The body has been sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem.  

The case has been classified as sudden death.
