KUALA LUMPUR: Eight policemen claimed trial to bribery offences involving RM12,100. They were hauled to three different Sessions Courts here yesterday.
In the first case, Asst Supt Mohamad Zafrul Zulkifli, 37, and L/Kpl Mohamad Hasirun Abu Hassan, 29, were charged with soliciting RM2,000 and RM1,500 each from Myanmmar Kway Phone Naing as an inducement not to act against his countryman Nang Cherry who was believed to be holding a fake UNHCR card on Jan 28 last year.
L/Kpl Mohd Saffuan Mat Salleh, 31, and L/Kpl Muhammad Huzzaini Esman, 29, were accused of accepting RM1,500 from Kway.
Sessions judge Allaudeen Ismail fixed bail at RM15,000 for ASP Mohamad Zafrul, and RM10,000 each for L/Kpl Mohamad Hasirun and L/Kpl Saffuan and L/Kpl Muhammad Huzzaini.
The judge ordered ASP Mohamad Zafrul to surrender his passport and fixed April 12 for mention.
In another court, Kpl Abd Rahim Yusak, 60, and Kons Mohd Hafis Hafizi Azhari, 26, faced three counts of accepting bribes totalling RM2,100 from one Alif Faisal Amran who had an expired road tax, and for not arresting one Mohd Hariz Zaifan Mohd Zanua who was on the police wanted list.
The duo were said to have committed the offence at three places here on Sept 28 and 30, 2013.
Sessions judge Madihah Harullah set mention for April 10.
In the third court before Sessions judge Azura Alwi, Kpl Azuan Khalid, 49, and Kpl Zulazri Idris, 37, were accused of accepting a total of RM5,000 from one Mohd Shahrunizad Sahar as an inducement to release three Indonesians who did not have work permits.
They were accused of committing the offence at three places here on Dec 15 and Dec 17, 2015.
Bail was set at RM10,000 bail for Kpl Azuan and RM5,000 for Kpl Zulazri pending mention on March 30.
