Ismail Sabri: Kit Siang has made a pact with his jailer Dr M

PETALING JAYA: DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has made a pact with his own jailer to "rescue" his son from going to jail, claims Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).

"Lim Kit Siang believes that only (Tun Dr) Mahathir (Mohamad) can get Lim Guan Eng out of jail. That is why he has made a pact with his own jailer," said Ismail Sabri, who is also Bera MP, in a statement on Saturday.

He alleged that Kit Siang appeared to be totally reliant on the former prime minister to prevent his son's possible incarceration.

"Both Kit Siang and Guan Eng were jailed during U-turn Mahathir's time as prime minister, but Kit Siang is now desperate to stop his son and heir in the Lim family dynasty – also known as the DAP – going back to prison," he said.

Ismail Sabri said that was why Kit Siang made "a huge embarrassing U-Turn" of his own.

"Now he conveniently forgets what he said and wrote before.

"He defends Mahathir on the Bumiputera Malaysia Finance (BMF) scandal and Bank Negara Forex losses so that Guan Eng escapes jail.

"Also, Kit Siang hopes to be deputy prime minister while Mukhriz becomes prime minister if the DAP-led Opposition wins power," he said.

Ismail Sabri labelled Kit Siang's U-turns as "hypocrisy of the highest order".

"Two family dynasties perform staggering U-turns and go back on what they have been saying about each other for decades, all for personal political gain," he said.

"The needs and welfare of the rakyat have nothing to do with it.

"There are so many U-turns going on in the Opposition they need to rewrite the highway code," said Ismail Sabri.

Guan Eng has been charged with obtaining gratification for himself and his wife by approving two land conversion applications and subsequently buying his Pinhorn Road bungalow below the market price.

He faces up to two years in jail, a fine, or both if convicted.
