Selva Kumar agrees to police monitoring, wants to reside in Klang Valley

JOHOR BARU: Convicted serial rapist Selva Kumar Subbiah (pic) has allowed the police to monitor him closely, said Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

"He informed us that he wants to stay in the Klang Valley and I would like to assure the public not to worry about his stay in the area (Klang Valley)," he said.

Khalid said the police recorded a statement from Selva Kumar when he arrived at KLIA on Tuesday.

"Even though he is not required by the country's law to report to the police, Selva Kumar willingly agreed for us to monitor him," Khalid told reporters after a meeting of the Bukit Aman management department at Holiday Villa Hotel here on Wednesday.

Selva Kumar, 56, returned to Malaysia after serving his 24-year sentence for sexually assaulting dozens of women in Toronto, Canada.

He was found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting dozens of women in the late 1980s and early 1990s while posing as a modelling agent, movie producer or professional dancer.
