Terengganu floods: Number of victims rises to over a thousand

KUALA TERENGGANU: The number of flood evacuees here increased drastically from 54 victims to 1,303 on Saturday morning.

State Disaster Management secretariat chief and Civil Defence Force director Lt Kol Che Adam A Rahman said that Besut was the worst hit district, with 1,037 victims from 303 families.

The victims have been placed at 25 evacuation centres.

"In Setiu, eight evacuation centres have been opened housing 266 victims from 47 families.

"In total, as of 6am, there are 1,303 flood victims from 350 family housed in 33 evacuation centres," he said in a statement.
