Honour befitting a royal consort

ALOR SETAR: Kedah Ruler Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’Adzam Shah conferred the award of Darjah Utama Seri Mahawangsa Yang Amat Dihor­mati (DMK) on Kedah Sultanah Hajah Haminah, which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri Utama’.

The conferment was in conjunction with the Sultan’s 89th birthday celebration.

The investiture ceremony held at the Holding Room, Istana Anak Bu­­kit, here, was attended by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah and wife Datin Seri Hizam Awang Ahmad, among the dignitaries.

Gracing the ceremony were the Raja Muda of Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah and Raja Puan Muda Kedah Tengku Maliha Tengku Ariff.

Also present were Tunku Benda­hara Kedah Tan Sri Tengku Abdul Hamid Thani, Tunku Temenggong Kedah Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Sultan Abdul Halim and Tunku Laksamana Kedah Datuk Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Tunku Sallehuddin.

After the ceremony, Sultan Abdul Halim presented state awards and medals to 142 recipients at the Audience Hall, Istana Anak Bukit. — Bernama
