BERA: Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) has asked the public not to speculate on the arrest of his ministry's secretary-general by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
He said all parties should let MACC to do its job and there should not be any interference from unrelated parties in the corruption investigation on Datuk Mohd Arif Ab Rahman.
"Numerous questions and speculation have surfaced over this matter, which is normal, but they should not be entertained.
"We must leave it to the MACC to do its job," Ismail Sabri said after leading the district-level Maulidur Rasul celebration here Friday.
He also said that his ministry will give its full cooperation if needed by MACC.
"All that I have been informed of and has appeared on social media is that his case is related to his previous service with the Selangor state government, while he only joined my ministry recently, in 2015 or 2016.
"What has gone viral on social media is not related to my ministry's procedures. That is why it is not appropriate for me to comment on matters not within my knowledge," Ismail Sabri said.
Mohd Arif was arrested by MACC on Wednesday for alleged abuse of power and corruption.
He was nabbed at his home in USJ3, Subang Jaya, while his two sons were arrested at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya after they were called in for questioning.
MACC officers found gold bars, 150 luxury handbags, branded watches and foreign currency at Mohd Arif's house.
