Man pleads not guilty to supporting IS

KUALA LUMPUR: An insurance runner pleaded not guilty at a High Court here Wednesday to supporting the commission of a terrorist act and possessing items related to the Islamic State (IS) terror group

The accused, Fazar Nor Md Reduan, 33, was said to have provided support by saying he would use explosives.

His act was considered a threat towards the Malaysian public and was sent via the Telegram app on his smartphone.

Fazar Nor was said to have committed the offence at a house in Ampang on June 28.

Fazar Nor, 33, also faces a second charge of having five images and eight videos in his cell phone containing elements of terrorist acts or the IS militant group.

He was said to have committed the offence in front of Liberty Insurance Bhd in Taman Danau Kota off Jalan Genting Klang at 1.20pm on June 28.

High Court Judicial Commissioner Ab Karim Ab Rahman has set Jan 23 for mention of the case against the accused, who was unrepresented.
