AN 80-year-old grandmother in Tamil Nadu, India, was sexually assaulted, tortured, and strangled to death before being robbed of her jewellery, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The woman, who lived alone, was found lifeless in the house two days ago by a family member who visited her daily.
A piece of cloth believed to be used to strangle her was still around her neck. Police investigation found that the jewellery she had been wearing had gone missing.
Authorities also believed that the unknown assailants had sexually assaulted and tortured her.
> Malaysia Nanban also reported that plantation workers in Selangor have accused their union and its state chapters of ignoring their plight.
Workers of the plantation in Kuala Selangor alleged that their management has been trying to remove them from their jobs, which some of them have held for up to 30 years.
They claimed that they had been given unfair workloads to force them into quitting and that the management preferred to hire foreign workers.
