53-year-old woman arrested after writing 'babi' on police summons

JOHOR BARU: A 53-year-old unemployed woman was arrested after she wrote the word “babi” on a summons that was issued to her.

Johor Baru South Asst Comm Sulaiman Salleh said that the incident happened on Tuesday at around 8.50pm along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak here.

The woman was given a summons for not obeying traffic rules as she blocked the traffic by parking her gold Mercedes Benz at a double-lined lane and for ignoring traffic signals.

"During the incident, an officer handed her the summons for her to sign it but she returned the ticket with the word 'babi' written on it. She also screamed at the officer saying that 'babi' was her name,” said ACP Sulaiman said in a press statement on Wednesday.

He said that the traffic police reprimanded her for her misbehaviour but she acted aggressively by screaming at him.

“She was arrested and will be charged on Thursday (Dec 15) under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, which carries a fine of up to RM100,” he added.

ACP Sulaiman advised members of the public not to use any harsh words or threats towards anyone to show their dissatisfaction as stern action would be taken on those who failed to obey rules and regulations.
