Nazir Razak now on board of QPR football team

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Nazir Razak has been appointed to the board of the Queens Park Rangers football team.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, the CIMB Group Holdings Berhad chairman said it was an interesting new challenge for him.

"Interesting new challenge and I will do my best for QPR while I am on board," he said in a posting accompanying a screenshot of an article by West London Sport.

Another Malaysian newly appointed to the board at Loftus Road is chartered accountant Datuk Seri Johan Raslan, who was former PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia from 2004 until his retirement in 2012.

The duo join QPR chairman Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Amit Bhatia, Ruben Gnanalingam and Datuk Kamarudin Meranun on the Board of QPR Holdings Ltd, which is the holding company of the football club.

Interestingly, Nazir is a fan of Chelsea Football Club, who count QPR as one of their traditional London rivals.

Fernandes' QPR currently sit 15th in the Championship after brief spells in the Premier League in recent years, during the 2011-2013 seasons and again in the 2014-2015 season.
