PUTRAJAYA: Politicians and community leaders have been warned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) not to betray the trust of the rakyat.
Its chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad (pic) said in an open letter that politicians should not only hope for positions and power while neglecting the rakyat.
“Don't only make empty promises,” he said, reading the poetic letter in Malay during an event to mark his 100 days in the commission on Tuesday.
Also present were officers from the commission.
Dzulkifli also told politicians to stop inventing myths to fool the people, while enriching themselves at the same time.
He said that they should also oppose corruption and misuse of power.
Dzulkifli also said that judges have a duty to punish the corrupt so that it would be a lesson to everyone.
He added that corruption would occur as long there were those who were greedy for riches.
Dzulkifli took over from Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, who officially stepped down from his post in August.
