Coffee table news and brews for those with the daily grind in mind

PETALING JAYA: You are seated for breakfast. It is a wonderful, cool morning and a mug of freshly brewed coffee awaits you. What else could you possibly need? Why, a newspaper, of course.

Which is why Etika Sdn Bhd has decided to distribute a free special coffee table edition of this newspaper when you subscribe to The Star and at outlets like MyNews.com stores, 7-11 stores and petrol stations.

Etika is well-known for its assortment of refreshing drinks, including WONDA coffee, a range of premium Ready-to-Drink (RTD) coffees.

For the company, coffee and newspapers go hand in hand.

Its group marketing manager Santharuban T. Sundaram said the “inseparable” association between the two was the basis for the idea of a special coffee table edition.

The edition was created out of WONDA’s desire to brighten up the day for coffee lovers, he said.

“We wanted to give coffee lovers what we call a ‘WONDA brew’ of the day’s news.”

He explained that the edition would have a different angle on reporting based on the day’s headlines.

The coffee table edition is released in conjunction with International Coffee Day, which falls on Oct 1. International Coffee Day has been celebrated with much fanfare by WONDA since 2014.

“We hope to bring the celebration of International Coffee Day up a notch and reward coffee drinkers in one way or another.

“We want to make the celebration bigger and better every year.”

Since coffee drinkers are at the heart of the celebration, WONDA intends to bring the best benefits for those who have a passion for the brew.

“Etika has worked with some of our business partners to present a celebratory atmosphere filled with great deals and promotions to all WONDA coffee lovers,” said Santharuban.

He observed that the appreciation for coffee had been steadily growing in Malaysia.

“Coffee culture is growing. The growth in the number of cafes as well as in the RTD coffee category are evidence of how much Malaysians love their coffee.”

Santharuban said WONDA was the fastest growing RTD coffee brand in Malaysia.

Since its launch in 2013, the coffee brand has been on an upward trend in terms of growth.

The brand has been a key driver in the RTD category.

“It is clear that Malaysians love the quality and taste of WONDA coffee, which is specially formulated to suit our consumers.”
