CarSifu awards to honour the best cars of the year

PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group will hold its first CarSifu Editors’ Choice Awards for outstanding vehicles at a gala dinner at The Royale Chulan Damansara hotel here on Oct 6, culminating with the announcement of the “Car of the Year”.

The awards see some 50 vehicles being shortlisted for competition across 22 categories, which include Best Compact Car, Best Mid-Sized Car, Best Luxury Executive Car, Best Compact SUV/Crossover and Best Pick-Up Truck.

Other categories include Business Car of the Year, Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle of the Year and Best Local Design.

The “Car of the Year” winner will be selected from among the winners of the 22 categories.

Some of these winning cars, along with several latest models in the local market, will be paraded at an autoshow at the new wing of 1Utama Shopping Centre here from Oct 26 to 30.

Cars shortlisted by the judging panel are those launched locally from Oct 1 last year to Sept 30.

Those in the running are from brands such as Audi, BMW, Citroen, Ford, Haval, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jaguar-Land Rover, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Proton, Renault, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.

These cars are scrutinised by an experienced judging panel in key areas such as safety, performance, comfort, fuel economy, handling, styling as well as their individual “wow” factor.
