PETALING JAYA: MCA has called for DAP to live up to its 'Competent, Accountable and Transparent' (CAT) tagline, says MCA Religious Harmony Bureau chairman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker (pic).
Ti was referring to a viral video clip which allegedly showed the father of DAP's Sungai Pinang assemblyman Lim Siew Khim allegedly soliciting bribes to help obtain low-cost housing units in the state.
"In the past we have seen DAP ferociously highlighting isolated cases of abuse of power to project a 'holier than thou' image.
"Now that these practices are in their backyard, they no longer can pretend or remain silent," Ti said in a statement on Tuesday.
Ti claimed that DAP leaders must come forward and condemn the corrupted practices of its leaders and relatives without fear and favour.
He urged DAP to be consistent and demanded that Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and Siew Khim resign pending court cases or to take leave pending investigations.
"DAP must show their commitment and non-tolerance of corruption by taking harsher actions from within as exemplary to others and not 'Nato' (No Action Talk Only)," he said.
Ti called on DAP to advise those involved in the scandal to take responsibility of the perceived corruption and not play the victim or attempt to whitewash any perceived culpability.
He claimed that DAP stance in diverting the issue to Gerakan's leadership tussle is "lame and is no excuse or escape for perceived corruption within DAP."
