Najib: Dr M is a 'control freak'

KEPALA BATAS: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) has labelled former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as being "obsessed about control".

"I spoke in an interview recently in Jakarta, saying that I have only two options. Either be a prime minister that has to refer to him when making big decisions for his approval, or be a prime minister based on the needs of the people and the party.

"If I choose the second option, sooner or later, he will attack me. Just like how he attacked Pak Lah (former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi), he said.

Najib added that when Tun Abdullah did not listen, Dr Mahathir attacked him.

"When I did not listen to him, he attacked," he said during his speech before opening the Tasek Gelugor Umno division delegates meeting here Sunday.

Najib also spoke about the importance of loyalty to the party and urged members to defend the Government that has built over the years.

He also advised members to continue their struggle and look after the welfare of the rakyat.
