PETALING JAYA: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Sultan Iskandar, has presented Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) with a Gulfstream 550, making it the first football club in Malaysia to own an aircraft.

In a Facebook posting by JDT Football Club, it said the jet, which will fly club officials and players, will be ready for delivery in mid-2017.

"With this presentation, JDT creates history yet again being the first club in the country to own its own aircraft. Allah bless the Sultan," it said.

JDT is helmed by Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who has led the club to success in the Asian level.

It is also the first Malaysian club to win the AFC Cup last year.
