Husband stabs rapist in the back

BATU PAHAT: A rapist reaped what he sowed when the husband of his victim stabbed him in the back while he was trying to escape.

During the incident on Sunday, the man managed to sneak into a dormitory for foreign workers in Jalan Batu Pahat-Kluang here and pulled the victim, a Vietnamese woman in her 30s, into a room.

He then raped the woman.

However, the woman’s husband and younger brother, who had just returned from work at about 2pm, caught the man in the act.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Wahib Musa said the man tried to escape from the husband and the younger brother.

“A struggle ensued and the husband grabbed a knife from the kitchen before stabbing the suspect in the back,” he said, adding that the man managed to flee.

Upon being alerted, police immediately launched a manhunt.

Police, said ACP Abdul Wahib, arrested the suspect at Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail here while he was seeking medical treatment for stab wounds at 1.45am yesterday.

Initial investigation revealed that the 22-year-old suspect, who is in stable condition, was an unemployed man.

The husband and the brother would be called in for their statements to be recorded.

The case is being investigated for rape.
