Dog dies saving owners from snake

BUTTERWORTH: An eight-year-old husky called Anna sacrificed her life to save her owners from a cobra which had slithered into their home in Jalan Tengah in Perkampungan Berapit here.

Anna’s owners, a 75-year-old woman and her son, had just returned from the hospital when the incident occurred at about noon on Tuesday.

“My son had just let Anna out of her cage and into our compound when she suddenly started barking.

“I was shocked to see that she was fending off a 2.4m-long cobra. We were too afraid to go out, so we called our area’s security volunteer team for help,” she said.

When the team arrived, they found the dog in a semi-conscious state, she added.

“We then rushed her to the vet but it was too late,” she said.

The snake escaped.
