Najib pays last respects to wife of former MCA president

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, accompanied by MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, attended the wake of Toh Puan Catherine Lim Cheng Neo on Thursday.

Najib arrived at the Xiao En Centre at 8:20am to pay his last respects to Lim, the wife of former MCA president Tun Tan Siew Sin.

Najib later chatted with Lim's daughter Datin Paduka Tan Siok Choo and relatives and recalled the fond memories he had with the family.

Lim passed away peacefully on Tuesday less than a month after her 95th birthday and a week before what would have been her husband’s 100th birthday.

The cortege later left for Malacca at 10am for the ancestral home where a private wake will be held.

Lim’s body will be laid to rest beside her husband at the family burial ground at 2.30pm today.
