RM5,000 fine for nude games

BALIK PULAU: Three women and a man were fined RM5,000 each in default of six months’ jail after they pleaded guilty in a magistrate’s court here to taking part in nudist sports games in Teluk Kampi about two years ago.

It was learnt yesterday that Chan Chia Wen, 29, Chew Tok Hua, 59, Teh Guan Hoon, 39, and Kong Meng Long, 40, had admitted to the offence when the case was brought up last Friday.

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt Lai Fah Hin confirmed the matter, saying that they were released after they paid their fine.

The four had initially claimed trial to the charge on Aug 28, 2014, but changed their plea. They were charged under Section 294(a) of the Penal Code with committing obscene acts at a public space in Teluk Bahang which caused public unrest from 3pm to 11pm on May 30, 2014.

The offence carries a maximum three-month jail term or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Six others – Yam Kam Hoong, 56, Loh Kok Hong, 43, Mu Wai Peng, 36, Justin Ang Ji Keng, 26, Lionel Loo Joo Heng, 54, and R. Nanda Kumar, 42 — pleaded guilty to the offence when they were charged in a magistrate’s court on Aug 28, 2014.

They were jailed a month and fined RM5,000 each.
