Guan Eng: I knew bungalow’s stamp duty valuation

Lim Guan Eng's controversial RM2.8mil bungalow.

BATU PAHAT: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng says he knew that the valuation of his Jalan Pinhorn bungalow for stamp duty was RM4.2mil.

He said when he opened his house to the media for a tour after the controversy surfaced, a reporter had asked whether he knew that the property was valued at RM6mil, as claimed by some Umno leaders.

“I know that the valuation of my house for stamp duty was RM4.2mil.

“What I said I did not know was how Umno leaders valued my house at RM6.1mil because I am a chief minister, not a property agent,” he said before attending a dialogue session with Johor DAP members here on Saturday.

He alleged that the hoo-ha over the bungalow purchase was Umno’s way of shifting focus from the 1Malaysia Development Berhad issue.
