Five more highways to go cashless

SEMENYIH: Another five highways will go cashless by noon next Wednesday.

The five highways are Shah Alam Expressway (Kesas), Western KL Traffic Dispersal Link System (SPRINT), Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE), Kajang-Seremban Expressway (Lekas) and Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor (Latar).

All collections at the 21 toll plazas along these highways will now be carried out electronically via the Smart Tag or Touch ’n Go.

Malaysia Highway Concessionaires Association vice president Sazally Saidi said Lekas users who used the highway before noon that Wednesday could still pay cash if they exited before midnight.

“This is because the highway practises the closed toll plaza system, where you take the ticket at the first toll plaza and then pay at the next one,” he told reporters at the Lekas Kajang South Toll Plaza here yesterday.

The highway concessionaires involved, he said, would be distributing 107,000 Touch ’n Go cards, for which the users only had to pay for a RM5 reload to receive these.

There is also an offer for a new Smart Tag at RM99 and a 10% rebate for Class 1 vehicles from Wednesday to April 30.

For details about the new cashless system, call Lekas hotline at 1-800-88-8021, Kesas at 03-5633 7188, Sprint at 03-7494 7333, GCE at 1-300-88-0035 and LATAR at 03-6145 1515.
