Perlis mufti commends Najib for visiting Hadi at IJN

PETALING JAYA: Perlis mufti Dr Asri Zainul Abidin (pic) praised Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for visiting Datuk Seri Hadi Awang at the National Heart Institute, saying the move "is commendable."

"Regardless of the problems that we face, visiting the sick and maintaining a good relationship among Muslims and others is something commendable.

"Let us praise good efforts and we leave other matters to Allah," Dr Asri said in a Facebook posting, on Wednesday. He also posted the photo showing Najib chatting with Hadi, who is PAS president, who was receiving treatment at IJN.

Najib took time off to visit Hadi on Tuesday at IJN where he also visited his former aide.

Ties between the two leaders have warmed after Najib extended a hand to PAS to build the nation according to Islamic principles.

Najib and Hadi also shared a stage at a recent forum discussing Muslim unity.

However, the Islamist party had been adamant, saying there would be no political collaboration but cooperation in areas of education and the economy.
