Madonna set to perform in Singapore

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian fans of Madonna who missed their chance at securing tickets to her shows in Bangkok will get another opportunity as the Queen of Pop has announced that she will stage her first ever concert in Singapore on Feb 28.

Tickets for the Rebel Heart Tour to be held at the National Stadium will go on sale on Jan 12 at 10am and are priced at $1,288 (RM3,919), $688 (RM2,093), $588 (RM1,789), $488 (RM1,485), $388 (RM1,180), $288 (RM876), $188 (RM572) and $108 (RM328).

Madonna was banned from performing her Girlie Show World Tour in Singapore back in 1993.

The Rebel Heart Tour is the singer’s 10th worldwide concert tour, however, it is the first time she is bringing her show to Southeast Asia.

Apart from Singapore and Bangkok, the Rebel Heart Tour will also travel to Manila on Feb 24 and 25.

The 57-year-old is set to perform new songs namely Iconic, B*tch, I’m Madonna and Living For Love as well as her classic hits such as La Isla Bonita, Material Girl and Holiday.

Known to be a perfectionist, Madonna and her team spent three months preparing for this tour.

“I want to take people on a journey. I believe that if you’re going to a big venue like a sports arena or a stadium you need to present a kind of entertainment that interfaces with all of the senses,” she told Rolling Stone when the tour started in September. 

“I don’t think it’s enough to just stand on stage and sing. I think that there are moments for that, but I’m a very visual person. I was trained as a dancer, so those kinds of things are really important to me.”

Madonna started her music career in 1982 with the release of Everybody, the first of many hit singles to follow. She has released 13 studio albums to date and sold over 300 million records. 

A visual artiste, Madonna often shocks the masses with her daring antics - from dancing in a field of burning crucifixes in the video for Like A Prayer to releasing a nude coffeetable book aptly titled Sex.

Not surprising then that only those above the age of 18 are allowed into the venue of the Rebel Heart Tour in Singapore.
