Man detained for suspected murder of wife


JOHOR BARU: The police have detained a 52-year old man who is believed to have murdered his 47-year old wife at Taman Kluang Barat. 

Johor Police CID chief Senior Asst Comm Kamarul Zaman Mamat said initial investigation showed that after murdering his wife, the suspect tried to take his own life by slashing his wrists several times. 

"The couple's son in his 20s who returned from work at around 5.30am on Sunday discovered his mother's body in the house while his father was on top of the body," said SAC Kamarul Zaman. 

He said police discovered a blood-stained meat cleaver and a pair of scissors at the crime scene that was believed be used by the suspect.

He added that the suspect worked as a cook while his wife was a seamstress.
