A DRIVER was killed after being hit by his own lorry in Petaling Jaya while trying to stop a car thief, Tamil dailies reported.
K. Kumaran, 35, was sleeping at home when his wife noticed someone trying to steal their lorry.
She screamed for help, waking up Kumaran.
The father of five then went out to pursue the thief.
His younger brother and nephew borrowed a neighbour’s motorcycle and chased after the culprit as well.
They were stunned to find Kumaran later, lying unconscious on the road in a pool of blood.
He was rushed to hospital but was found to be dead by then.
An auxiliary policeman, who saw a lorry hitting a man and being driven in a dangerous manner, gave chase. He managed to catch the culprit.
> Police have called for a stop to rumours about a missing doctor in Sitiawan, Perak, Tamil dailies reported.
Apparently, the doctor was well known and his clinic had remained closed since he went missing on Nov 29.
His car was discovered abandoned under an overpass in Teluk Intan two days later.
A police spokesman said two women had lodged separate reports about his disappearance.
