KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s (pic) arrival caused a stir at the Putra World Trade Centre where the Umno Youth assembly is being held.
Supporters rushed towards him and shouts of "hidup Tan Sri (Long live Tan Sri)" were heard at the back entrance of the building when he arrived with his bodyguards at around 2.45pm on Wednesday.
The former Deputy Prime Minister was immediately escorted to the Youth assembly at Dewan Tun Dr Ismail.
The Umno deputy president was notably absent from the rostrum at a pre-council briefing on Monday night.
Ousted minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, who is also the party's vice president arrived slightly earlier than Muhyiddin.
Supporters also mobbed him.
Earlier on Wednesday, Umno vice president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that Muhyiddin and Shafie’s fate would be left to the wisdom of the president, upon the advice of the Supreme Council and the views of the grassroots.
Ahmad Zahid did not confirm that tonight's supreme council meeting would determine the future of Muhyiddin or Shafie.Already a subscriber? Log in
