KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded the statement of Tian Chua (pic) over a photo Lembah MP Nurul Izzah Anwar took with Jacel Kiram, the daughter of the late self-styled Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III.

The PKR vice president arrived at the Bukit Aman police headquarters at about 11.20am Friday and left the building at about 12.30pm after the interrogation ended.

Speaking to reporters at Bukit Aman on Friday, Tian Chua said the process went well and assured that the police has his full cooperation for the investigation.

He also said that more than 90 reports have been lodged against him and Nurul Izzah over the photo.

"As I've mentioned before, this issue should be solved. No charges have been made against me and YB Nurul Izzah. We are not being investigated for a crime. We hope that the police are satisfied with our cooperation," he said.

Tian Chua said that the issue should not be prolonged and reiterated that he had no hand in deciding the guest list for an event held in Manila, Phillippines last month.

"As I've said, we have no part in deciding the guest list, organising the dinner or the trip in general.

"We are not the organisers, we only went because we were invited," he said.

Tian Chua's lawyer Subang MP R. Sivarasa reiterated that there were no elements of crime in the case, and that the Batu MP was called in to address police inquiries.

Photographs of the Opposition politicians with Jacel had made the rounds on social media, with some quarters calling for legal action against Nurul Izzah and Tian Chua.

Tian Chua had said both he and Nurul Izzah were unaware that the person they had taken photos with was the self-styled Sulu princess.

Jacel is the daughter of the late self-styled Sulu Sultan Jamalul Kiram III who ordered 200 members of his “Royal Sulu Army” to invade Lahad Datu in February 2013 to stake his claim over Sabah.
