PUTRAJAYA: Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik is "patiently waiting" for the legal suit from Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak over remarks he made against the prime minister.
“I am still waiting. I’m a very patient man. Don’t rush, wait for it,” Dr Ling told reporters after attending the Kiwanis Humanitarian Public Service Award presentation ceremony here, Wednesday.
“I’m also surprised why he is taking so long (to take legal action), but I will remain patient,” he added.
Dr Ling, former Transport Minister and MCA president, had received a letter of demand from Najib’s legal team, which accused him of defamation.
The letter demanded that he retract and apologise over his statement relating to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) earlier this month.
Dr Ling had said he would not back down from his call for Najib to step down, and he was ready to defend himself in court.
He said he looked forward to seeing the Prime Minister take the witness stand.
Najib's lawyer Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun said on Tuesday that he would seek an appointment with Najib on whether to proceed with the suit.
