KUALA LUMPUR: A drunk driver died after he came barrelling down the New Klang Valley Expressway, grazing another car before crashing into a road divider.
No one else was injured in the 1am incident yesterday, said Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Azisman Alias, who added that the 30-year-old driver died at the scene along KM9.1 of the highway.
“Witnesses said they saw the man driving a Proton Saga at high speed and was swerving on the highway from Klang heading towards Kuala Lumpur.
“The man hit another car on the road, causing him to lose control of his vehicle.
“The car spun around several times before it crashed into the road divider,” ACP Azisman said.
Fire and Rescue Department officials were deployed to the scene and spent about an hour to cut through the wrecked car to free the man.
His body has been sent to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for a postmortem.
