MyRapid train card use to extend to company buses from July

PETALING JAYA: RapidKL passengers will be able to use their MyRapid Cards on the company's buses from Jul 1 onwards.

A statement by RapidKL owners Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad said that the company was finally able to port the card to its buses.

The cards were previously only able to be used on its train networks.

"We are happy to announce that all tests conducted on the usage of MyRapid Cards on buses have been successful.

"We are now ready to accept them in the buses under the Cashless Bus Ticketing System (CBTS) programme," said RapidBus chief executive Datuk Zohari Sulaiman.

Previously, passengers were only able to use Touch n Go cards on RapidKL buses.

He added that MyRapid card users will also enjoy a 20% discount on bus fares for a limited period, while Touch n Go users will not.

Zohari said that RapidKL's monthly passes -the Rapid Pas Integrasi and Rapid pas Bas- would be migrated to the MyRapid platform, with new cards to be issued to users at no additional charge.

He added that MyRapid card users can also stand to benefit from discounts when shopping at any of the 28 outlets under the MyRapid Privileges Programme, including Zoo Negara, Sunway Lagoon and others.

The cards can be bought at LRT and Monorail stations, as well as certain bus hubs such as Puchong Utama, One Utama, Pasar Seni and Section 2 Shah Alam.

The MyRapid card was introduced in July 2011 as part of RapidKL's Auto Fare Collection system. Ticketing integration for the Ampang and Kelana Jaya lines were completed in Nov 2011 and was extended to the KL Monorail service in Feb 2012.
