KUALA LUMPUR: A construction crane fell at a construction site at Jalan Bukit Bintang here in making it the fifth crane crash this year.
Fire and Rescue Department director Khiruddin Drahman confirmed the crane fell at about 4pm Tuesday at the construction site located along Jalan Bukit Bintang near Pavilion Kuala Lumpur here.
Khiruddin added that there were no casualties reported during the incident.
“Our team went to the site the check and confirm the incident but no details were given by the site supervisor as they said they would handle it themselves,” he said.
Meanwhile, another crane overturned on Monday morning at a construction site in Atria Damansara.
According to a contractor who works on the site, the incident took place at 9.30am and no casualties were reported.
“The authorities are currently investigating the incident to identify the cause of the collapse, however, our supervisor said the incident took place due to some technical glitch,” he said.
“To our knowledge there were no overload and all operating procedures were acknowledged,” he added.
The Police and the Fire and Rescue department confirmed that no deaths or injuries were reported and that the crane had only overturned within the site.
Just this year, three crane related incidents have been reported , one of which killed one Indonesian worker and left another injured.
