KUALA LUMPUR: Two land owners succeeded in setting aside a judgment-in-default (JID) ob-tained by a lawyer against them for RM3.9mil, over legal and consultation fees for allegedly acting for them.
High Court judge Justice Zabariah Mohd Yusof allowed an application by the land owners to set aside the JID after hearing submissions by parties in chambers yesterday.
Lawyer Mansheel Kaur acted for the landowners while counsel M. Manoharan represented himself in court proceedings.
Mansheel said her clients also succeeded in lifting an order which Manoharan obtained from the High Court to freeze their bank accounts.
The suit is fixed for case management on April 23.
Manoharan obtained the de-fault judgment on Jan 10 from a High Court against the two land owners.
