Two brothers charged over double murders
BENTONG: Two brothers believed to be the masterminds of a gang, were charged at the magistrate's court here with abetting in the murder of two men at Genting Highlands about three months ago.
Tengku Hazrul Shah Tengku Hamid, 28, and Tengku Khairulnizam, 25, together with three others still at large, were accused of murdering Ti Chee Khew, 29 and Loh Cheng Hye, 42, at the 6.4km point of the Genting Highlands–Kuala Lumpur road on June 19 at about 4am.
No plea was taken from both men.
Prosecuting officer C/Insp Abd Aziz Baba told the court that bail should be denied to the two brothers as the offence carried the mandatory death penalty.
He also urged that the two accused be remanded at the Sungai Buloh prison until the next proceeding.
The two brothers, who were initially arrested at an apartment in Semenyih on Aug 13, were unrepresented.
Magistrate Kamal Azira Hassan denied bail and fixed Nov 19 for mention.
He also ordered the accused to remain in remand at the Sungai Buloh prison.
Several family members of Tengku Hazrul Shah and Tengku Khairulnizam waited outside the courthouse from as early as 8am to catch a glimpse of the two brothers.
On July 7, Teh Tiong Hai @ Ah Hai was charged at the magistrate's court with the murder of Ti and Loh at the same place, date and time.
