Name your favourite nasi lemak place

WHICH Malaysian doesn’t love a hearty serving of nasi lemak? This week, we feature two more nasi lemak eateries for The Star People’s Food Awards.

From today onwards, log on to Metro Online Broadcast (MOB) to nominate your favourite nasi lemak eatery and stand a chance to win attractive prizes such as hotel stays and dining vouchers.

Those who nominate, vote or successfully share a link are automatically entered into a race to win prizes.

Nominations are open for the first 10 days of the month (Nov 1 to 10), followed by voting from Nov 15 until the end of the month.

NASI LEMAK BUMBUNG

Jalan 21/11a, Sea Park, 46300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor

This nasi lemak joint is partially hidden by cars parked on the roadside, but the long rows of red plastic tables and chairs in front of Maybank marks the spot.

The alley behind the bank has been installed with wall fans to provide diners extra comfort.

You will find only two types of nasi lemak here: the ones with fried chicken or lamb.

Service is also unsurprisingly fast since they only have one item on the menu on most days.

The nasi lemak, which comes with telur goyang (fried egg with runny yolk), is mediocre in taste.

The not-so-spicy sambal was a bit on the sweet side and the portions were small.

Although many people have raved about the crunchy fried chicken, it was a bit soggy this time around.

Nasi Lemak Bumbung is open from 6pm to 3am and a plate is priced at RM5.

NASI LEMAK WARISAN OPAH

2-56 Jalan USJ 9/5P, 47620 Subang Jaya, Selangor

Nasi Lemak Warisan Opah restaurant always has a long queue of hungry customers.

The nasi lemak is wrapped in the old style of banana leaves and newspaper, packed with the usual sliced cucumbers, boiled egg and sambal.

Customers can choose their side dishes ranging from sambal kerang, fried chicken and sambal paru to mixed vegetables and tempe goreng, although the dishes end up making the meal a bit pricey.

The nasi lemak portions are small, so if you are a big eater, you might as well take two or three packets.

You can enjoy hot and fresh nasi lemak as they pack it on the spot and it is priced at RM1 per packet.

However, if there is a long queue, you might have to wait at least 15 minutes for your order.

The sambal is spicy and tasty, too. The outlet opens from 5pm to 5am everyday.
