SITUATED in Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, Bukit Bintang is a shopping paradise for locals and tourists alike.
However, because of this, parking can be rather expensive and finding a spot in the area can be a frustrating ordeal.
Driving around a few times is not uncommon when trying to park your car.
To help readers know of suitable parking places and the rates, StarMetro has compiled a list of available carparks in Bukit Bintang.
The most affordable parking spots here are at City Hall-owned parking areas, costing only 80sen per hour. These parking lots are usually full.
There are other options available with some surprisingly affordable rates.
To Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Lot 10 and Suria KLCC
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Lot 10, Suria KLCC and other nearby shopping centres open their carpark to the public, offering parking lots which are affordable during weekends and in the evenings, on weekdays.
A pedestrian walkway at KLCC, which is linked to the Bukit Bintang area, provides a direct passage between the city’s two popular shopping sites.
The elevated walkway is a 562m-long stretch that cuts across Jalan Pinang, Jalan Perak and Jalan Raja Chulan with entry and exit points at a few convenient locations.
There are other alternatives that will require some walking — Wisma Cosway and Jalan Perak (next to Wisma UOA Centre’s open carpark)
To Dorsett Regency Kuala Lumpur, The Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur and Starhill Gallery
One of the hidden open-air carparks is along Jalan Imbi opposite the hotels. The parking lot is within walking distance to the hotels. The rate is RM8 per entry and is an alternative from parking in the hotels.
However, when the carpark is full, motorist have to double-park, and leave their car key with the parking attendant to move it when motorists parked on designated lots leave the carpark.
To Berjaya Times Square, Sungei Wang and Plaza Low Yat
The shopping centre offers affordable rates during the weekends but the parking spaces get fully-occupied fast.
Other alternative parking areas are Wisma SPS and Jalan Bulan 2
Wisma SPS has a flat rate of RM4 after 4pm while the open carpark in Jalan Bulan 2 does not.
