INDAH Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK) unveiled its new tagline “New Life For Water” and new logo in line with its vision to become the premier wastewater management company.
IWK chief executive officer Faizal Othman said the change was also to support its mission to provide efficient services to the community. He was speaking at the company’s media appreciation night.
Faizal, appointed as chief executive officer in August, said IWK would look into creative ways to better use the by-products from wastewater management including the effluent, sludge and biogas.
“We have to execute our mission to provide efficient, excellent and innovative services for safe and sustainable environment,” he said.
He said IWK, established in 1994, now served the 24 million people through 87 authorities.
IWK chairman Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang said the company had to be practical in the ever-changing environment of the water industry.
Abu Zahar said the Government was far-sighted and adopted the latest technology to ensure Malaysia had a good sewerage system.
Under the 11th Malaysia Plan, the Government aims to provide 80% of the population -- especially those in cities -- with connected sewerage services by 2020.
About 3,000 small and inefficient sewerage treatment plants will be rationalised through the construction of regional and centralised plants with larger capacities and more efficient technologies, particularly green technology.
IWK is the national sewerage company entrusted with the task of developing and maintaining a modern and efficient sewerage system.
In 1994, the Federal Government awarded IWK the concession for sewerage services nationwide. Prior to that, sewerage and wastewater treatment was the responsibility of local authorities.
