Phase one of traffic dispersal project to begin next month

THE long-awaited traffic dispersal project in Kota Kemuning to ease congestion in the area will commence in August.

Sri Muda assemblyman Shuhaimi Shafiei said the tender for the project would close soon and the contractor was scheduled to start the first phase of the project next month.

“For package one of Phase I, which will cost RM5mil, the roads will be expanded from two to three lanes; and the slip roads will be upgraded, so road users can use them instead of having to go through the Kota Kemuning roundabout. This will alleviate traffic.

“Package two, costing RM15mil, will see the construction of an access road from Persiaran Anggerik Mokara to Kesas Highway, to ease traffic congestion from Kota Kemuning to Kesas and the LKSA (Kemuning–Shah Alam Highway).

“In total, Phase I of the project will cost the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) RM20mil,” Shuhaimi said at his Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at the MBSA field in Section 27, Shah Alam.

He said for Phase II, involving the construction of a flyover along Persiaran Anggerik Vanilla, MBSA would apply to the state government for some RM90mil in funds.

About 5,000 people attended the open house where Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali was the guest of honour.

A total 116 people received zakat while several surau and mosques also received donations.
