DINOSAURS Alive is here for the very first time in a pop-up Jurassic-themed “forest” setup at the Lanai in Malaysia Tourism Centre (Matic) in Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

On for the next six months from 10am to 10pm daily, the exhibition provides an educational presentation to the period spanning almost 200 million years when the prehistoric creatures dominated the earth.

The more than 40 life-sized, moving and animatronic dinosaurs with lifelike reptilian skin, roar, breathing and stomp, giving visitors of all ages the opportunity to travel back in time to encounter and understand the extinct species.

Tourism Malaysia director general Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab said Dinosaurs Alive Kuala Lumpur was targeted at the domestic level and appeals to the Asian market especially Singaporeans and tourists from southern Thailand.

“This event complements and adds value to the many amazing tourist attractions we have in Malaysia,” he said.

Visitors are welcomed to get up-close and personal with the most infamous prehistoric animals, including the fearsome colossal Tyrannosaurus Rex, which was specially made for the exhibition here.

“We don’t even have it in Australia,” Showtime Attraction director Keith Brown said, adding that the exhibition was expected to receive 5,000 to 6,000 visitors daily.

A wide range of fun-filled family entertainment have been lined up for visitors.

Children can become palaeontologists by donning special outfits and chipping away to unearth their very own fossils and making other exciting Jurassic discoveries.

Dinosaurs Alive in Kuala Lumpur also features a children’s dinosaur egg and fossil dig zone, dinosaur sand-crafting area, dinosaur bones assembly activities and history area, themed jumping castles, games, themed food and beverage zones and special dinosaur toys and merchandise.

The exhibition is an initiative by Malaysian Tourism Centre in collaboration with Creative Alliance and Dinosaurs Touring.

Tickets are priced at RM50 per adult and RM30 for children aged three to 12.

Discounts are available for groups of 10 and more as well as for school groups of 20 or more students.

Packages and bookings are also available for private and corporate events, social groups, VIPs and special functions with prior arrangement.
