VISITORS began rushing in the moment the 6th Malaysia International Travel Market (MITM) 2017 opened its door at the Subterranean Penang International Convention and Exhibition Centre (SPICE) in Relau.
The two-day event which ended on Sunday, saw people making enquiries at some 360 booths which offered great deals on holiday packages at competitive prices.
Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA) Penang chapter chairman Andy Chuah said the event would not have been possible without the support of the sponsors.
“Thank you to SilkAir as our official airline company and Genting Hong Kong (Dream Cruise & Star Cruise) as our official cruise.
“A big thanks to Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism as well,” he said in his speech at the opening ceremony on Saturday.
Chuah also thanked the 22 sponsors for contributing RM50,000 worth of lucky draw prizes during the event.
He said Tourism Australia sponsored the grand prize worth RM15,000 to any destination in Australia.
Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Limited also came in with the top prizes of flight tickets to Japan, Taiwan or Hong Kong.
Also present were state Tourism Development Committee chairman Danny Law Heng Kiang and MCTA national chairman Datuk Albert Tan.
There were also booths by National Tourist Organisations from China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Taiwan and Thailand as well as airlines, hotels and other partners.
