Toasting a year’s success


Guests enjoying their dinner at the Tech Dome Penang’s partners recognition evening event at Komtar.

The dinner was held at the Geodesic Dome in Komtar.

In his opening speech, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng praised Tech Dome Penang for its many accomplishments since it opened on July 16 last year.

“Within a year of its opening, Tech Dome saw more than 55,000 visitors.

“Over 260 schools from all over the country have visited it.

“The attraction attained a 4.9 score out of 5 in a Facebook review,” he said.

Penang Tech Centre Bhd chief executive officer Dr Khong Yoon Loong said the event was to show appreciation to those who had contributed to Tech Dome Penang’s development.

“We believe that we are fulfilling a mission to inspire children to have an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.”

Also present were Japan consul-general to Penang Kiyoshi Itoi, Toray Industries (Malaysia) managing director Masahiko Kawamura, Renesas Semicon-ductor Malaysia president Yasushi Kasatani and Penang Tech Centre directors Datuk Toh Chin Leong, Datuk Wong Siew Hai and Datuk Lim Kok Khong.

There was also a presentation titled ‘The exciting future of the Internet of things’ by Exabytes Network Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Chan Siak Kee.
