THE morning began like any other at St Xavier’s Institution (SXI) assembly when they marked the school’s 165th year of turning boys into men, except for the green and white balloons, and bagpipes.

As students filed in for the day before 7.30am and made their way to the school court for the assembly, they were greeted by the merry sight the helium balloons bearing the school colours, anchored to three golden balloons the shape of ‘165’.
