KUANTAN: It is the school holidays again and bookworms in the east can bring their children to pick up any of the one million books on sale or take part in some of the activities at the Popular Mega Bookfair here.

With a 20% rebate on almost all books in multilingual titles and genres from local and international authors, book lovers can expect to tick titles off their reading lists at the fair held at the Sultan Ahmad Shah International Convention Centre (SASICC) here until March 26.

Be on the lookout also for books which are on “Great Offer” with price reductions of up to nearly 70% and also 15% discounts on all stationery products.

Popular senior manager of special projects Helen Goh said they expect around 100,000 visitors to the fair during the ten days of which children will be the main target.

“We have the fair during the school holiday because we hope the fair can be a platform for children to enjoy the ambience of books and take part in the activities to keep them busy and engaged,” said Goh after the launch of the Fair at SASICC.

She highlighted that in the “My 1st Green Step” carnival children can learn how to recycle, and that the “Save our Ocean” colouring competition and the “Saya Ada Cerita” Malay storytelling tested children’s storytelling skills.

“We also have daily offers where selected books and items will go for as low as RM2.50 each during the fair.”

For aspiring cooks, there will be a Cook Out Day on March 25 where local celebrity chefs Ricky Ng, Fazalina, Fauziah (Kak Ghee Hut) and Hussin Khan will showcase their expertise through live cooking demos on stage.

During the launch of the fair Goh also gave stationery and RM30 book vouchers to the 30 orphans from Rapha Children’s Home and RM Caring Home who were invited.
