In defence of the kapchai

Currently, the FT Ministry is only mulling the possibility of banning kapchai to reduce carbon emissions, as well as once public transport becomes viable. However, for small businessmen such as Chow, even getting from your home to an LRT or MRT station is easier by bike as well.

THE idea of banning the kapchai (underbone motorcycles) from going into Kuala Lumpur, a possibility being considered by the Federal Territories Ministry, has not gone down well with local businesses and riders alike.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor was reported yesterday as saying the ministry was considering the idea as a way of cutting down on carbon emissions. He also noted that such motorcycles had been used by snatch thieves.
