Couples welcome bundles of joy on Malaysia Day

JOHOR BARU: Two couples had a double cause to celebrate following the birth of their bundles of joy on Malaysia Day.

Self-employed Chew Chean Yee, 29, said she opted for a Caesarean section on Malaysia Day as the birth date is considered lucky.

“We also chose this date as it will be a memorable birthday for our third baby girl as Malaysians nationwide will also be celebrating on the same day.

“We are also thankful that our baby girl was safely delivered at 8.42am,” said Chew from Taman Pelangi, adding that she was supposed to give birth initially on Sept 25.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese Phan Thi Ngoc Da, 28, said although the doctor expected her baby to be born on Sept 30, she too opted for a Caesarean on Malaysia Day for her third baby who was born at 8.14am.

“We also wanted our baby boy born between 7am and 8.30am as we believe that he will be hard-working as this is the time when people go to work,” she said when met at KPJ Puteri Specialist Hospital here on Sept 16.

At the Sultanah Aminah Hospital, a total of 18 babies including 12 girls were born between 12.01 and noon while Columbia Asia Hospital also welcomed a 3.84kg boy.
