Thousands join St Anne’s procession despite drizzle

Pilgrims attending the evening mass at the Church of St Anne before joining in the candlelight procession in Jalan Kulim, Bukit Mertajam.

THOUSANDS of pilgrims from all walks of life braved the drizzle to come together for the candlelight procession on the feast day of St Anne in Bukit Mertajam town in Penang.

Held in conjunction with the annual St Anne’s Novena and Feast at the Church of St Anne in Jalan Kulim, the event saw people accompanying a beautifully decorated float bearing the statues of St Anne and her daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, along a 3km-journey through several roads in Bukit Mertajam.
